A 4 aces poker game requires 3 to 5 players, all drawing from a 52-card deck and using all the accepted strategies to make the most out of their hands. The game goes on until either one of these two events happens: a player scores 20 or more points, or one gets all four aces in one hand. When you get the winning hand, you will want to call out “4 ACES poker ” to end the game.

There are four aces in a deck:

  • Ace of hearts – The heart is associated with happiness and emotions
  • Ace of spades – Similar to the tip of a spear, which in some cultures means luck.
  • Ace of clubs – In ancient times, this card was associated with peasants and, in some cultures, success.
  • Ace of diamonds – It represents wealth and luxury.

Getting Started with 4 Aces Poker

It starts with the standard deck, where the dealer will shuffle and then hand out three face-down and three face-up cards to each player. The three facing down are not exposed to the rest of the team, but the other set is visible. The dealer will then place the rest of the pile face-down in the middle of the table so players can pick as needed.

The player to the dealer’s left takes the first action and then the rest follow in a clockwise manner until everyone has played a round. If you draw a card you prefer not to use, you can place it on the ‘discard’ pile with its face up. Players will pick from there, too, to add to their face-up collection.

The Scores

Once the last person picks the last card in the face-down pile, the game ends. All the cards are brought out to be ranked into these three categories:

  • Pairs
  • Flush or Straights
  • Straight Flushes

Here’s a more detailed score for each:

Pairs: A pair – -1pt; 3 of a Kind – +2pts; 2Pairs – +3pts; Full House – +10pts; 4 of a Kind – +10pts.

Flush or Straights: 2card gets -2 pts; 3card – 0pts; 4-card gets +2pts; 5-card gets +6pts.

Straight Flushes: 2-card gets -1 pt; 3-card is +2 pts; 4-card = +6 pts; 5-card gets +14pts

The holder of four aces is an automatic winner, while -3pts are considered a non-hand.  An ace in each hand is worth an extra point.
